Rodrigo Roa Duterte the 16th president of the Republic of the Philippines has been making waves in the global politics stirring us with his antics and unpredictable mouth. He captured the attention of world leaders and even powerful organizations like UN, America and even religious conservatives when he allegedly cursed the highest Catholic leader of the world. More than this, he is steadfastly becoming a phenomenal personality which was proved recently by Forbes Magazine in its list of world’s most powerful people in 2016.

Digong, as he is casually addressed by his detractors came to power after holding local government positions in Davao City as Mayor, Vice and Representative. Prior to these, he used to be a prosecutor who was convinced by his mother- who believed  he makes a good country leader- to run for public office. His journey to becoming a President began in 1986 when he was appointed as “officer in charge Vice Mayor” of what is now known as "one of the safest cities in the land”.

In only a short span of time, he gained left and right condemnations regarding his tough stance against illegal drugs in the country. Daily killings attributed to his pursuit of saving the youth of future generations has been collectively branded as sort of EXTRA JUDICIAL KILLINGS which would then used by his political opponents to destabilize the country by ousting a leader either by impeachment or by the vertue of dying “people power”. If survey for satisfaction rating is the basis, majority of the RESPONDENTS have shown no sign of turning their heads against him.

He challenged the mighty power of Washington when he insulted Barack Obama by calling him name “son of a whore”. When he expressed his change of foreign policy, the OUT OF TIME world's superpower by both military and economy may have had to draw a plan that will secure its regional influence in the Pacific. President Rodrigo Duterte can't be stopped, he put the table back for good with China regarding the disputed WEST PHILIPPINE SEA.

His recent trip to China was the start of renewed friendship between two Asian countries. There, he announced his intention to realign Philippines in terms of foreign policy by announcing “separation” from long-time ally US. To add spice in what is brewing paranoia, he expressed his desire to work with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

A leader or strategist? Duterte came just right in time. He is both a thinking president and brave simple Filipino who knows what to do for the sake of CHANGE.

He has simplified public service by political will. The support he gets from the legislative branch is a fool-proof that he is doing the right things ACCORDINGLY. He knows what to say even if words coming from his mouth do not appeal to ultra sensitive citizens.

It takes guts to lead a country which is doomed by divisiveness caused by few oligarchs and politicians who use government positions to cater their selfish personal interests. Digong sets a standard for public service. He is not blind to the plight of struggling Filipinos because he is not an elitist nor poor enough to be aware of the needs of the business sector.

You might think I am a pro- Duterte. Yes I am! But being a protagonist doesn't mean die-hard fanatic of a celebrity who makes somebody's afternoon full of KILIG.

I am a simple citizen who voted Duterte to the  presidency. I am a critic rather than anything else, who just sideline in political discourse because I have my own life to deal with. There is a space reserved for everyone to express sentiments and opinions,THIS IS MINE, WHERE'S YOURS?
